Annual Pride on the Block festival goes late-night for the first year ever with a not-to-be-missed after party at Respectable Street from 9 p.m. til 4 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 headlined by NYC alternative rock band Slothrust and synth pop trio Moon Kissed. SWEAT!, a queer New York City-based dance party for every body, promises a high-energy show followed by a dance party with immersive performances and variety entertainment. Doors 9pm, Show 10pm.
About the headline performers:
Rock band Slothrust consists of Leah Wellbaum, Will Gorin, and Brooks Allison, musicians all with backgrounds in classical, jazz and blues. The band’s newest work once again sees Slothrust leaning into improvisation–something that in the past has lent itself to the infectious energy of their live shows. Their latest album is a masterclass in balancing tenderness with the fierce guitar work Leah has become known for. With a distinct yet unified sound that blends progressive rock, acoustic and pop, Slothrust has never been more confident.
Moon Kissed is that once-in-a-blue-moon band that creates their own community as they rise in the musical ranks. With Emily Sgouros on synth, Leah Scarpati on drums, and Khaya Cohen on vocals, Moon Kissed creates an energy that feels like a secret and an escape, where anyone is free to be themselves, gender isn’t real, and the person you’re dancing next to is your best friend but could also be your next makeout partner.
