Kapow Noodle Bar serves a variety of trendy, Asian-themed dishes, including funky twists on old favorites like pad Thai, fried rice and pho, along with tacos and salads. Most dishes are priced at less than $20, but the small-plate format means it’s easy to run up a big bill. Kapow has a full bar with beer, wine and cocktails.
ATMOSPHERE
Hip. Kapow opened in the former Longboards space on Clematis. The surf theme is gone, replaced by a graphic-novel look. This is the second location for Kapow, which also has a restaurant in Boca Raton.
OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE
Everything was good. I loved the Mushroom Chow Fun ($15), which included Cantonese rice noodles, bok choy and truffles. I paid an extra $7.50 for grilled steak, which was pricey but also quite tasty.
REASON TO GO
Unique menu items, a fun vibe and friendly service.
SERVICE
Friendly and attentive. We visited Kapow soon after it opened, and the servers seemed keen to make a good first impression.
NOISE LEVEL
Bustling but not overbearing. Music played on the sound system, and the dining room was a bit crowded, but we still were able to carry on a conversation.
KID FRIENDLY
Yes and no. The casual atmosphere works for kids, but the fare is a bit sophisticated and expensive for children’s palates. However, we saw a number of families with children at Kapow.
