Scott Sanfilippo: The Dubliner Irish Pub

Excerpt from article below | For full article click here

There are a few Irish outposts in Boca Raton, such as O’Briens or The Irishmen, but none pay homage to the Old Sod like The Dubliner does – and that’s because of the food. Any bar can pour a pint of Guinness, throw some shamrocks up on the wall and claim to be a Irish Pub, but The Dubliner actually serves food you would expect to get in an Irish bar.

We started out with the Irish Fondue (lager, cheddar & gruyere, w/ pretzels, veggies & fruit) and moved on to the Boxty Pancakes (potato cakes w/ apple sauce, honey & sour cream).  If you like potato pancakes, you will love these.  They came three an order and even though they were a little on the overdone side, they were great.  As someone who grew up in the northeast and went to many a church or fire company picnic where you stood in line for an hour or more for homemade potato pancakes, I can say with authority, these things were incredible.  But unlike the potato pancakes at St. Joe’s Bazaar, these were not greasy.

It was a toss-up for me to choose between the Irish Dip (slow cooked roast beef with gruyere, horseradish cream, au jus) or the Corned Beef Sandwich, so I asked our server what he recommended and he said, “hands down the corned beef.”

With all the different places to dine in Mizner Park, The Dubliner shouldn’t be one to overlook. Yes, it’s a bar.  But they crank out some great food at reasonable prices.  As our server said, “I will put the food up against any other restaurant in Mizner.”  We all agreed.
