VoyageMIA: Meet Scott Frielich of Subculture Group

Scott, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After years of working in the restaurant and bar business I decided to open my own. In 1996 I teamed up with partner Rodney Mayo and launched Lost Weekend in Miami Beach, the next 20 years came 15 more Restaurant, nightclub and bar concepts that eventually formed into the Subculture Restaurant Group.

Lost Weekend Miami Beach just celebrated its 21st anniversary!

Has it been a smooth road?
There has definitely been struggles along the way! But with all success, there will always be challenges, its how you handle those challenges that matter!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Subculture currently has 15 restaurant, Bar and Nightclub locations from Miami Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach. This year we launched a second Lost Weekend and Kapow! Noodle Bar, our Asian concept in West Palm Beach. I would say the proudest moment of my career would have to be either surviving 21 years in the fickle Miami Beach Market!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
As much as I love Miami Beach it has to be the most difficult to do business in, do your homework and research!
